Granada City Council has taken a decisive step towards fully implementing the selective collection of organic waste in the capital of the Province by purchasing 473 brown side-loading containers with a capacity of 2,000 litres. The process of installing these containers began during April in all the districts of the city. They will serve to enable the residents to recycle biodegradable residue not only of vegetable origin, but also of meat and fish.
At a press conference, the Mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, stated the following, “this team has opted for sustainability and for looking after our environment”. As said by the Councillor when presenting the new model of container, the aim of this new initiative focused on implementing side-loading containers is “to place Granada at the forefront of capital cities of the Provinces of Andalusia, through a greater implementation of selective organic matter, while at the same time fully complying with European regulations”.
The model selected by the City Council is CONTENUR’s OVAL container. CONTENUR has supplied these containers with a large opening for disposal purposes, thereby providing a response to the need for containers that are not only easier to use, but which also prevent the user from having to touch the container.
