CONTENUR is reinforcing its position in Latin America with a new milestone in the city of Buenos Aires, one of the largest urban areas in the region, following the expansion of its OVAL container supply to the local operator SOLBAYRES.
Following an initial trial phase carried out last year, during which the first 100 units were delivered, the excellent results achieved have led the client to expand the project with a new order of 336 additional containers, scheduled for delivery during the second half of 2026. This decision represents a significant step forward in the city’s waste container modernisation strategy.
The selection of the OVAL model has been primarily driven by the product’s simplicity, robustness and operational efficiency—key factors in reducing maintenance costs associated with the traditional containers currently in use. The supplied units have been configured for the collection of residual waste (mixed waste fraction), in line with the city’s current waste separation system.
Buenos Aires: a strategic market
The city of Buenos Aires represents a particularly relevant environment due to the complexity and scale of its waste collection services. The system is currently organised into six operational zones, combining different collection methods ranging from door-to-door collection to side-loading systems implemented by CONTENUR.
In terms of waste separation, the current model distinguishes between:
- Dry waste (paper, cardboard, plastic packaging and glass)
- Organic or residual waste
- On-demand services for green waste, construction debris, bulky waste and scrap
The progressive introduction of solutions such as the OVAL container positions CONTENUR as a leading strategic partner in the Southern Cone region, capable of delivering integrated solutions aligned with the needs of modern cities.
